'Tango Fantasy' is a luscious journey through Latin rhythms and harmonies. Beginning with the driving power of the Tango Waltz, I then take you on a side road through the Baroque undertones of the Suite, before returning to South America with the swaying yet elegant Third Nocturne, a piece that combines bossa nova and blues to sumptuous effect. We return to Argentina with the five-movement Tango Fantasy that headlines the disc - an emotionally intense distillation of classical piano and tango that should have you itching to get out on the dance floor.

Ken Herrera grew up in Tasmania, where he majored in piano at the Conservatorium of Music. Following a shift to composition in 2007, he has performed his own work in concerts around Australia and France. His music has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM, and he released his first disc 'Tales from the Dead Sea' in 2012, with 'Aurora Borealis' following in 2015. Ken lives and works in Melbourne. ... more
