'Tales from the Dead Sea' was my first disc of solo piano music, both as composer and performer, and on it you will find my first grapplings with flamenco, tango and the classical sonata - all in a framework that is recognisably classical and yet also rather different.

The title track was named after the legendary feel of a Middle Eastern story, but actually the whole album has an old-fashioned feel - in a good way, I hope. Listen to it and enjoy the aura of days gone by.

Ken Herrera grew up in Tasmania, where he majored in piano at the Conservatorium of Music. Following a shift to composition in 2007, he has performed his own work in concerts around Australia and France. His music has been broadcast on ABC Classic FM, and he released his first disc 'Tales from the Dead Sea' in 2012, with 'Aurora Borealis' following in 2015. Ken lives and works in Melbourne. ... more
